C.S. Lewis
Clive Staples Lewis (1898-1963) is considered one of the greatest Christian apologists of the 20th century. Born in Belfast, Ireland, C.S. Lewis was baptized in the Church of Ireland while he was still a baby. During his teen years, he left the faith and became an atheist. In 1929, C.S. Lewis converted to theism and, in 1931, became a Christian. He was a close associate of J.R.R. Tolkien.
In 1924, C.S. Lewis became a philosophy tutor at University College. In 1925, he also became a tutor in English literature at Magdalene College. In 1954, C.S. Lewis took the chair of Medieval and Renaissance Literature at Magdalene College. He continued to hold this position until his untimely death in 1963.
