Thomas Paine
Born in England, Thomas Paine (1737-1809) became famous for his excellent political work, "Common Sense". "Common Sense" helped influence the opinion of the American public and gain support for a revolution for freedom from Britain. Among Thomas Paine's other works are various essays, "The Age of Reason", and "The Rights of Man".
Thomas Paine is an example of a great American. At one point, his influence during the American Revolution had almost been forgotten. Today, however, his monumental work, "Common Sense" is seen by many as the piece of literature that almost single-handedly changed public opinion of the American Revolution.
